PS2 might have been out dated, but there are still many shops sell PS2 machine.
Compared to the latest one PS3, PS2 of course offers less features.
However for those remain loyal with the old, PS2 will always be favorite.
Many PS2 users tend to leave all work for adding games collection to internal or external storage done by the technicians in their reliable PS2 shops.
But for you want to add games by copying / installing the game contents from DVD / CD media to external hardisk by yourself you can use USBExtreme or USBUtil software.
Steps to do to copy using any or both softwares are not complicated.
If your HDD is still empty and no HD loader installed, you can use USBExtreme. (Note: If your harddisk has already been intalled / stored with previous games use USBUtil instead).
I suggest you this, because to get a PS2 game ready to play on your machine you need a HD loader.
USBExtreme can create loader and format the game to be compatible with PS2 machine while copying the games from CD / DVD.
The weakness of USBExtreme works litlle bit slow. My experience when copying 2.5 GB size takes longer than using USBUtil.
The solution is, you can use both USBExtreme and USBUtil software.
Technically when copying the 1st game to the empty hdd, use USB Extreme.
Use USButil for the next games to copy.
Interest trying those 2 softwares?, you can get them here.
